Somali President Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed attends a press conference in the Presidential Palace in Mogadishu, the capital of Somalia, on Feb. 28, 2009. The President said his government accepted a ceasefire agreement with the insurgent group of Hezbul Islam (Islamic Party) mediated by the elders of Hawiye clan, the largest in Somalia, on Feb. 28. The insurgent group carried out attacks on African Union peacekeepers backing Somali government forces this week, killing about fifty people, most of them civilians and more than a hundred civilians were wounded.
