Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas will replace William Gallas as Arsenal captain, manager Arsene Wenger said yesterday.

Wenger left Gallas out of Saturday's 0-3 defeat in its Premier League match against Manchester City after the French defender made critical comments about his teammates. Wenger told a news conference French defender Gallas would play in today's Champions League match against Dynamo Kiev. "He will play against Kiev, Cesc Fabregas will be the captain," Wenger said.
