Baghdatis might skip SA tennis open due to injury

Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis might miss out the SA tennis open slated for next month after a failed comeback from the ongoing Brisbane International tournament.

The former Australian Open runner-up, hampered by a succession of injuries last year, lost to Finland's Jarkko Nieminen in the first round of the Brisbane event.

The Cypriot admitted that he is still not recovering from the hamstring problem and "physically not fit enough for tough competition".

Baghdatis, now dropping to a remote 96th on the ATP rankings, said he might reschedule the plan, including skipping part of the recent events.
