Cyprian Kiogora Mwobi of Kenya won the Hong Kong Marathon 2009 men's race with a new course record on Sunday, while his compatriot Winnie Frida Kwamboka Nyansik took the women's title.

Mwobi led from the starting line to finish the 42.195 kilometers race with two hours 14 minutes and 57 seconds.

South African Tubei John Chirchir came behind as the runner-up with 2:15.23 and Rotich Nelson Kirwa of Kenya third with 2:16.16.

"It is a good race," said Mwobi, who took part in the Hong Kong Marathon for the second time. "The course here has many ups-and-downs, and I am satisfied that I could win the race and set a new course record."

Winnie Frida Kwamboka Nyansik clocked 2:41.25 to win the women's race. MS Sunisa Saylomyen from Thailand took the silver medal with a time of 2:47.33.

Chinese runner Zheng Wenrong finished third at 2:49.22.
