Xabi Alonso denies Real Madrid contacts
Adjust font size:

Liverpool's Spanish midfielder Xabi Alonso denied on Thursday that he had any agreement with potential Real Madrid President Florentino Perez.

Alonso formed a key part of the Liverpool team that knocked Real Madrid out of this season's Champions League. Now with Perez looking to sign players to strengthen his probably campaign to be elected as the next Real Madrid President, the Spaniard is an obvious candidate to return to his homeland.

However, Alonso, whose father played for FC Barcelona, insists that if that is the case, he knows nothing about it.

"I have not had any contact with Florentino Perez," he said in the press conference he gave at the headquarters of the Spanish FA, where he is training with the Spain international squad.

"I don't like to comment on speculation and I have nothing to say," he added in words reported in the online edition of Diario AS.

"You learn to live with rumors and I am calm about things like that. At the moment al I am thinking about is our forthcoming game with Turkey," added Alonso.
