Swine flu precautions for table tennis worlds
Adjust font size:

The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) and the world championships organizers have taken some initiative to prevent any possible incidence in relation with the swine influenza, the ITTF said in a statement on Tuesday.

Two players from a high risk area who did not go through the quarantine upon their arrival at the Narita Airport in Tokyo on April 25 have been tested on symptoms. Both were tested negative, said the statement.

The other players from this delegation arriving on April 26 or afterwards went through the quarantine and have been put under regular medical control.

A Japanese doctor is available on the world championships premises around the clock. The ITTF official doctor is available any time for the players and officials on site in Yokohama as well. The associations of other risky regions were asked to get their players to have a checkup as a precaution.

In case a player develops symptoms, he/she will get to appropriate medical facilities and further measures will be taken as situations demand, said the ITTF statement.
