Young Portuguese qualifier Michelle Larcher de Brito won over Chinese 15th seed Zheng Jie in the second round of French Open on Wednesday.

De Brito, who just turned 16 years old in January, reached the third round by beating Zheng 6-3, 6-4.

De Brito will face France's Arvance Rezai for a place in the last 16.

Chinese 25th seed Li Na beat Switzerland's Timea Bacsinszky 6-1, 6-4 in the second round.

Li is playing in her first French Open. The Chinese was forced to pull out of last year's competition due to a recurrence of injury on her right knee.

Li Na will take on either Akgul Amanmuradova of Uzbekistan or Olga Govortsova of Belarus for a place in the last 16.
