Russia to quiz team doctors for 2010 Winter Olympics on doping
Adjust font size:

Russia will quiz all team doctors going to the 2010 Winter Olympics to be held in Vancouver, Canada, on doping by the yearend, the Itar-Tass news agency reported on Tuesday.

Gennady Aleshin, Vice President of the Russian Olympic Committee, said on a meeting Tuesday that one major preparation for the Winter Olympic is to enhance the professionalism of the team doctors, since lack of doping knowledge will lead to some serious results.

He also said it would be a shame for the whole squad if one Russian athlete was tested positive after claiming a medal.

Three Russian biathletes had been tested positive for a banned substance at the Biathlon World Championship in South Korea in February.

Seven Russian female athletes were disqualified from the 2008 Beijing Olympics only days ahead of its opening because they were ruled to have switched urine samples before tests for performance-enhancing drugs.
