Chinese players victorious at Indonesia Open

All Chinese shuttlers easily won their matches in straight games at the Indonesia Open super series qualifying round on Thursday.

Mixed doubles world number six Xie Zhongbo/Zhang Yawen defeated their Indonesian rivals Pia Zebadiah Bernadet/Fran Kurniawan Teng 21-16, 21-15, while Ma Jin/Zheng Bo, ranked fifth in the world, prevailed 21-16, 21-12 over Indonesian players Hendra Aprida Gunawan/Vita Marissa.

In women's singles, world number three Wang Lin advanced after her Indonesian opponent Adriyanti Firdasari retired due to knee injury.

Meanwhile, world number eight Xie Xingfang thrashed Dutchwoman Rachel van Cutsen 21-6, 21-15.

Denmark's Peter Gade, the men's singles world number two, survived an early scare to defeat Tien Minh Nguyen of Denmark 13-21, 21-19 and 21-14.

Indonesian Open 2009 is the sixth badminton super series sanctioned by World Badminton Federation that provides a total prize money of 250,000 U.S. dollars.
