Team China's block and kill game proved to be too much for Chinese Taipei as they took less than one hour to record their second straight-set win (25-12, 25-15 and 25-11) on Friday at the World University Games.

China, which crushed Canada 3-0 Thursday in its Univeraide opener, is already assured of a place in the quarterfinals and will face Slovenia in the last round of group play. Chinese Taipei could also advance to the knockout stage if it beat Canada on Sunday.

The efficient Chinese, who captured FISU bronze in 2007 and silver in 2005, peppered the Chinese Taipei defence with 42 kills, three service aces, and 10 blcoks. Chinese Taipei, on the other hand, had 29 kills, one ace, a team hitting percentage of 30%, and committed 20 errors.

"We had a good game on serve and kill, and on the whole we played our normal game," said Wang Baoquan, head coach of the Chinese team.

The quarterfinals are set for July 7, the semifinals for July 8, and the bronze and gold-medal games for July 10.

Poland is defending Universiade women's volleyball champion, having defeated Serbia in the final.
