Safina bags Slovenia title
Adjust font size:

Top-ranked Dinara Safina claimed her 12th WTA title on Sunday as she came back strongly to beat defending champion Sara Errani of Italy 6-7 (5), 6-1, 7-5 at the Slovenia Open in Portoroz.

The victory was comforting since Safina had lost to American Venus Williams in the Wimbledon semifinals in June.

After losing a close first set, Safina jumped to a 4-0 lead in the second set. In the decider, Safina broke four times while Errani received treatement for a leg injury.
