Tottenham beats West Ham at Barclays Asia Trophy
Adjust font size:

Striker Jermain Defoe's goal help Tottenham Hotspur defeat West Ham United at the Barclays Asia Trophy Beijing 2009 at the Workers' Stadium Wednesday.

The speedy frontman took the winner in the 76th minute in a one- on-one situation, firing a low shot to beat keeper Robert Paul Green.

Tottenham controlled the rhythm for the whole game. Playmaker Luka Modric and second-half substitute Robbie Keane had some nice combination of short passes up front, which threatened the Hammers' defence from time to time.

Forward Roman Pavlyuchenko had an effort on the far post in the first half.

Tottenham will meet Hull City on July 31.
