Lotte Friis of Denmark won the women's 800m freestyle gold medal in a time of eight minutes 15.92 seconds at the world swimming championships here on Saturday.

Britain's Joanne Jackson placed second in 8:16.66 and Italy's Alessia Filippi was third in 8:17.21.
