Indonesian MD pairing to vie Chinese contender in world badminton championship

Indonesian Men's Double (MD) pairing Rian Sukmawan/Yonatan Suryatama Dasuki would vie their Chinese contender Chai Biao/Lu Xiaolong in the first day of the world badminton championship slated to be held in Hyderabad, India from Aug. 10 to 16, the Antara news agency reported on Thursday.

According to the tournament list issued by Badminton World Federation (BWF) on Thursday, Besides Rian and Yonatan pairing, other Indonesian players who will contend in the first day were Sony Dwi Kuncoro, Maria Kristin and the mixed double players DevinLahardi/Lita Nurlita.

The number 6 men's single player Sony Dwi Kuncoro is scheduled to vie Austrian player Michael Lahnsteiner. Meanwhile the number 15 women's single player Maria Kristin would vie Swedish player Sophia Hansson.

Indonesian top player Taufik Hidayat is scheduled to commence his game in the championship on the second day.

All Indonesian players are scheduled to depart for Hyderabad on Friday this week.

Indonesia secured two titles in the annual badminton tournament in 2007 through Men's Double players Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan and Mixed Double players Nova Widianto/Liliyana Natsir.

The Badminton World Championship commenced in 2006 and was not held last year due to the conduction of Olympic Games.
