Free agent Allen Iverson joined Memphis Grizzlies as he wished on a one-year contract on Thursday.

No financial details have been released but local media said the deal worth 3.5 million U.S. dollars along with a series of incentives.

"We are excited to announce the signing of Allen Iverson," Memphis general manager Chris Wallace said in a statement.

The ten-time All-Star guard, 34, had earlier expressed his wishes to move to Memphis on his Twitter.

Last season, Iverson was with the Detroit Pistons before becoming a free agent.

The NBA's Most Valuable Player in 2001 had previously played with the Philadelphia 76ers for 10 years before joining the Denver Nuggets.

Iverson was a four-time NBA scoring champion and ranks 16th in the league's all-time standings with a career aggregate of 23.983 points.
