August 30 - During the Belgian Grand Prix, Brazilian TV station Rede Globo reveals that the FIA has launched an inquiry into Piquet's accident.

September 4 - FIA orders Renault F1 to appear before the World Motor Sports Council in Paris on Sept 21 to respond to allegations of cheating.

Sept 10 - Piquet's evidence to the FIA is leaked to the media. The driver alleges that Renault team chief Flavio Briatore and chief engineer Pat Symonds ordered him to crash at the Singapore Grand Prix in 2008.

Sept 11 - FIA chief Max Mosley announces that Renault could be kicked out of the world championship if it is proved they cheated. He adds that Piquet Jr will be offered immunity from punishment if he collaborates. Renault accuse their former driver of blackmail and launch criminal proceedings against Piquet and his father.
