Tunisia went close to make a fifth World Cup finals appearance after beating Kenya 1-0 at home on Sunday.

France-based striker Issam Jomaa headed the only goal of the game after just 34 seconds to give Tunisia a victory needed to set the way to next year's tournament in South Africa.

Carthage eagles needed now to win versus Mozambique on their final qualifier on November 14.

"The match was difficult as we played at home which means higher pressure on the players. We've been close to qualify but we'll return from Mozambique with the ticket to South Africa," Tunisia's coach Umberto Coelho said after the game.

Tunisia is drawn in group B along with Mozambique, Nigeria and Kenya for the third and last round qualifying tournament for the 2010 World cup in South Africa.

Carthage Eagles head the second group standing, two points ahead of arch rival Nigeria.
