Coach player Qin Limei led Liaoning team to an upset win over defending champions Jilin 4-1 in the women's field hockey competition at the 11th Chinese National Games Wednesday.

"I am satisfied with the performance of our players," said Qin, who played forward herself in the match.

"Many veterans have retired and the new players are short of competition experiences," Qin said.

Else in the day's competitions of Group B, Tianjin beat Inner Mongolia 3-0, and Guangdong defeated Sichuan 3-1 in a match which could decide the group winner.

A total of 12 teams are competing in the women's hockey tournament of the National Games. The final will be held on Oct. 18.

In last year's Beijing Olympics, the Chinese women's hockey team won the silver medal, creating its best results in the Olympic history.
