Chinese Olympic champion Liu Zige, world champion Zhang Lin and other six Chinese swimmers wrapped up eight golds out of 10 on offer while Singapore's Lam Parker and Japan's Daiya Seto collected the rest two titles at the 8th Asian Swimming Championships on Wednesday.
Liu Zige, who broke world records in both long course and short course in three meets last month, dominated her favorite women's 200 meters butterfly in 2:06.23, beating teammate Jiao Liuyang 2:09.48 and Japan's Natusuki Akiyama 2:10.31.
The 20-year-old Liu said: "I did not expect a very good result since I was very tired recently. I still need to prepare for the coming East Asian Games in Hong Kong in early December."
As the first world champion for Chinese men's swimmers, Zhang Lin topped the 200m freestyle in 1:48.88, followed by Shi Tengfei of China 1:49.15 and Aaron D'souza of India 1:50.70.
Zhang, 800m freestyle winner at the world in Rome, Italy in late July, said: "I've changed my techniques as soon as I came back from the worlds. I've seen many good swimmers with more efficient strokes in Rome and I want to learn from them."
In other events won by the hosts, Gao Chang stormed 27.38 to take the victory of the women's 50m backstroke; Li Zhesi lifted the title in the women's 100m free in 54.84; Liu Jing was the No. 1 in the women's 400m individual medley in 4:41.29, Zhou Jiawei touched home 52.04 to win the men's 100m butterfly.
China also dominated the men's 4X100m medley relay in 3:38.26, beating Japan 3:43.41 and India 3:45.53 while the women's 4X200m free relay gold went to China in 8:09.01.
Lam Parker of Singapore sealed the gold in the men's 50m meters breaststroke with 28.03 seconds, ahead of Wang Shuai of China and Wong Chunyan of Hong Kong, China.
Lam said: "I'm proud that I swam my personal best and set a new national record."
Japan's Daiya Seto and Keita Sameshima had a one-three finish in the men's 400m individual medley in 4:20.56 and 4:25.40, while China's Liu Weijia came to a silver in 4:21.86.
The Asian Swimming Championships started since Nov. 21 and the swimming competition ran through Nov. 25 to Nov. 28 with 38 event sat stake.
