The Philadelphia 76ers met with Allen Iverson, the 10-time All-Star, in Dallas on Monday for their first formal discussion concerning his return to the NBA court.

Sixers general manager Ed Stefanski said on the team's website that the meeting lasted about two hours and was attended by Iverson, his agent, and Philadelphia head coach Eddie Jordan among others.

The Sixers were in Dallas for a game against the Mavericks on Monday.

As their former guard, Iverson played 10 seasons with the 76ers,led it to the NBA finals in 2001 and was named the league MVP that season.

However, the Sixers have lost six straight games for a 5-12 record this season. They could use Iverson's backcourt help after point guard Lou Williams broke his jaw last week against the Washington Wizards and was to be sidelined for eight weeks.

Iverson, 34, announced his intention to retire last week when no other team showed interest in signing him after he decided to leave the Memphis Grizzlies.
