China defeated Vietnam 2-1 in an Asian Cup Group D qualifier on Sunday at the National Stadium My Dinh in the Vietnamese capital city of Hanoi.

Yang Xu opened the scoring for China at the 35th minute and Zhang Linpeng made it 2-0 eight minutes later.

Vietnamese Cong Vinh pulled one goal back on a penalty kick in the second half.
