Botafogo on Tuesday announced that the Brazilian club has signed a contract with coach Joel Santana for the 2010 season.
Santana said he was charmed by the big names of the Rio de Janeiro state championship, including Vagner Love, Adriano, Petkovic, Dodo, Carlos Alberto, Fred, Herrera and Loco Abreu.
"The party is just getting started. The main attraction has just arrived. I was hired by Botafogo due to my positive results throughout the globe. I missed the Maracana stadium and even the critics. They give me more reason to work hard. Botafogo is a great club. I hope to be able to solve the team's problems. I would also like to thank the directors of the club for giving me this opportunity. I now have more experience and intend on turning this team around," said Santana.
Santana previously coached Botafogo in 1997 and 2000. He will officially coach his first game on Saturday, January 30, when Botafogo plays America.
