Spain to face USA in preparation for Basketball World Championships

The Spanish basketball team will have the chance to avenge its defeat to the USA in the final of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing when the two sides meet again in Madrid this August.
Spain will entertain the USA in Madrid on August 22, in a game that both sides will use as preparation for the World Championships that begin in Turkey just six days later.
The game will be certain to attract attention from all over the world. Spain is the reigning world champion after winning the title in Japan in 2006.
Meanwhile the USA is reigning Olympic champions after defeating the Spanish into second place two years ago in what is considered by Basketball’s governing body, FIBA, to be one of the best games in the history of the sport.
"I had the chance to play against them in Beijing and it was an extraordinary spectacle. I’m looking forward to doing it again," said Spain point guard Ricky Rubio, who currently plays for Regal Barcelona.
