Michael Phelps won the 200 meters individual medley on the last day of the four-day Charlotte UltraSwim meet Sunday.

It was the third title Phelps grabbed here after his 100m butterfly and 200m freestyle victories. He quit the 50m freestyle as he failed to qualify for the A group.

Phelps clocked one minute 58.35 seconds to win the 200m IM where Chinese ace Wu Peng finished fourth, 3.87 off the pace.

Emily Brunemann won the women's 1,500m long-course freestyle, topping Olympian Chloe Sutton by six seconds with a swim nearly 12 seconds faster than her seed time.

Josef Kinderwater won the 800m freestyle in eight minutes, 12.46 seconds and Peter Vanderkaay won two individual events and earned 20,000 U.S. dollars in prize money for winning the USA Swimming Grand Prix Series title. Vanderkaay also competed on a relay winner and finished second twice.

In the women's 200m individual medley, Justine Mueller edged Dagny Knutson and 15-year-old Missy Franklin beat Elizabeth Beisel in the 200m backstroke.

Multiple world-record holder Ryan Lochte beat Italian Sebastiano Ranfagni and American Matt Grevers to capture the 200m backstroke.
