Mellouli wins 6 medals at Mare Nostrum swimming

Tunisian Olympic champion Oussama Mellouli won two silver medals at the 1,500m and 400m freestyle in the third and last leg of the 2010 Mare Nostrum circuit at Canet-en-Roussillon in France.

Mellouli covered the distance in 15:20.37, finishing second after the Frenchman Sebastien Rouault and ahead of Pal Joensen of the Faroe Islands.

He clocked the 400m freestyle in 3:51.02, after Rouault and ahead of Britain's Dave Carry.

Earlier, the Tunisian swimmer netted four medals including a gold and three bronze in the first two legs of the circuit which took place respectively in Barcelona and in Monaco.

In Barcelona, Mellouli only finished third on his favorite distance of the 1,500m freestyle, losing to China's Zhang Lin and Di Jun.

Mellouli, one of the world's best swimmers in the 1500m distance, won the gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, repeated his feat at the Rome World Swimming Championship in 2009.
