Beach volleyball matches suspended after a player hit by heat stroke

The 2010 Chinese National Beach Volleyball Tour kicked off here Wednesday morning under the high temperature of 40 degrees Celsius.

But less than an hour later, the match between Hong Kong and Liaoning was suspended after a player suffered heat stroke.

The player, who is from Liaoning, received simple treatment from doctors and the match resumed soon.

Central China's Hunan Province experienced the hottest day in this summer on Wednesday. The highest temperature of its capital city of Changsha reached 40 degrees Celsius The land surface temperature of beach volleyball ground reached 50 degrees.

Liu Bin, a player with Jiangsu team, said the heat was hard to bear.

"It is like in a steamer, both the sun and ground are spreading heat."
