The United States defeated lowest-ranked Tunisia 92-57 to lead Group B after all group matches in the 2010 World Basketball Championships on Thursday.

The afternoon match took place in Istanbul's Abdi Ipekci Arena, and pitted the winning US team against the winless Tunisia.

Still, Tunisia put up a good fight in the first half, scoring as many points as their American peers in the second period after lagging behind 19-13 in the first quarter to enter the second half at 39-33 to their disadvantage.

Halfway through the third quarter, the American cagers took charge, and the second half was a clear defeat for Tunisia, who only scored 24 against the 53 points by the Americans.

Eric Gordon who plays for the LA Clippers was the game's top scorer with 21 points, while Marouan Kechrid netted the most of 15 points, all of the three-pointers, for Tunisia.

The United States will play the knockout match against Angola, which finished fourth in group A, while Tunisia said goodbye to the championship.
