Asian Para Games flame starts tour around Guangzhou

The flame of the 2010 Asian Para Games kicked off its seven-day tour around host city Guangzhou on Sunday (December 5). Ninety-eight torchbearers took part in an 8.8km relay from Huacheng Square near Haixinsha Island to Yuancun Wuhenglu Square.

December 5 marks the International Volunteer Day. Bai Yansong, a prominent Chinese news anchor and Volunteer Image Ambassador for the Asian Para Games, participated in the Torch Relay.

The last torchbearer Ma Liyun, who won the Women's Race gold in Cycling BMX at the Guangzhou Asian Games last month, lit the cauldron.

After Sunday's journey in Tianhe District, the flame will travel to Luogang on Monday.

The Asian Para Games Torch Realy involves a total of 660 torchbearers, including 20 who carried the torch in Beijing on December 4 and 640 passing the flame across Guangzhou.
