Wozniacki beats wasteful Slovak to breeze into last 16

Top seed Caroline Wozniacki on Friday beat Dominika Cibulkovato reach the fourth round of the Australian Open.

Danish Wozniacki, playing her first Grand Slam as the world No. 1, needed 92 minutes to overcome Slovakia's Cibulkova on Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, winning 6-4 6-3 in a contest featuring eight breaks of serve.

Wozniacki had won five of the pair's previous seven meetings, but crucially lost their most recent clash in Sydney International, with Cibulkova winning 6-3 6-3.

"It's a new year. I'm in the fourth round here. It's good," Wozniacki told reporters in Melbourne after the match.

The 20-year-old Wozniacki, still yet to win a major title, can hold onto the No. 1 ranking by reaching the semifinals in Australia. She will face Latvian Anastasija Sevastova in fourth round.
