Paralyzed former Chinese gymnast Sang Lan has dropped a sexual assault lawsuit against her guardians' son, saying that the federal court doesn't have jurisdiction over the case.

Sang Lan's lawyer, Hai Ming, submitted a document to a New York federal court on June 27 withdrawing her sexual assault lawsuit against Xue Weisen, the son of Sang's former guardians, Liu Guosheng and Xie Xiaohong.

According to the report, the new evidence provided by Xue's lawyer proved that the defendant has lived outside America since February 2002.

Xue renounced his US citizenship in 2008, which means neither the plaintiff nor the defendant in the case are Americans, so the federal court doesn't have jurisdiction over such case.

This is the second time Sang has withdrawn a lawsuit since she filed a $1.8 billion lawsuit in a New York federal court at the end of April seeking compensation for the gymnastics accident that left her paralyzed. She withdrew a suit against media mogul Ted Turner, who founded the gymnastics event where the accident occurred, on May 20.

Sang broke her neck during a routine vault during warm-ups at the 1998 Goodwill Games. She was paralyzed from the chest down, ending her career as a world-class gymnast.
