The football friendly between England and the Netherlands has been called off due to continued riot in London.

The Three Lions' friendly against the Netherlands was planned to be held at Wembley on Wednesday but the Football Association issued a statement on their website Tuesday morning to call off the match.

Violence spread out in London for a third consecutive day on Monday with shops being looted, buildings and cars on fire.

The trouble first flared on Saturday after a peaceful protest in Tottenham over the fatal shooting of a man by police.

On Monday, West Ham's League Cup game on Tuesday was first to be called off, followed by Charlton's match on the same day. Both clubs are in east London.

Later, matches in Crystal Palace and Bristol City were also postponed.

However, the Badminton World Championships started on Monday keeps running at Wembley Arena while the beach volleyball Olympic test event from August 9-14 is expected to go ahead as planned at the Horse Guards Parade.
