A social commentator known for bringing lawsuits against celebrities has now targeted Yao Ming, saying tenants renting Yao's apartments have disrupted her life.

Li Wen, daughter of the famous Taiwanese essayist Li Ao, warned Yao on Sunday to take control of his renters or face a lawsuit. "If Yao Ming keeps ignoring this, I'm going to take him to court," Li said, speaking on etiquette at a forum in Wuhan.

Li, who makes her living as an etiquette columnist and cultural commentator in various media outlets, lives in the posh Park Hyatt Residences in Beijing, where she says Yao has three apartments.

"I moved in two years ago and used to see Yao around the neighborhood. He has three apartments here," Li said.

Li said the tenants in Yao's apartment lack public consciousness, partying late into the night and disturbing their neighbors.

"I complained to the property management over your tenants' behavior, but your agent said you were not the owner of the apartment anymore. It's a lie. So I have to invade your privacy," Li said.

"Apartments in the neighborhood are selling now for 100,000 yuan (US$15,650) per square meter. Yao's three apartments each have 240 square meters. You can figure out how much Yao's apartments are worth yourself," said Li.

Yao's agent Zhang Mingji had no comment on the issue, saying it is Yao's personal affairs.
