Uruguay beat Bolivia 4-2 at home on Friday in their first qualifier for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

Uruguay, which recently won the Copa America, was from the beginning of the match the dominating part in the Centenario stadium in the Uruguayan capital of Montevideo.

Uruguay's star player Luis Suarez quickly put the home team ahead with a goal in the third minute, but Bolivia's Rudy Cardozo made a quick come back for the visitors after scoring an equalizer in the 17th minute, temporarily surprising the Uruguayan side.

The victory was almost sealed after more Uruguayan goals by Diego Lugano in the 25th minute and Edinson Cavani in the 34th minute, and then again by Lugano in the 71st minute.

But even a last attempt by Bolivia's Marcelo Martins in the 87th minute was not enough to bring the Bolivians back in the game.

Strong rains started just minutes after the start of the game, causing players to glide and fall constantly throughout the match.

Uruguay will play Paraguay in the Paraguayan capital of Asuncion next Tuesday while Bolivia will face Colombia at home in La Paz.
