Myanmar plans to build international racing car ground

Myanmar Top Ruby Land Co is planning to build a racing car ground in Mandalay, the second largest city of Myanmar, aimming to host 27th SEA Games and local ones in the country, local media reported Saturday.

With the help of foreign experts, the plan will be implemented about 1,400-meter long racing car ground in line with the international standard in the middle of this year, said Pyi Myanmar News.

Once the project is implemented, more and more goodwill competitions and local ones will be held and many outstanding car racers will come out from these competitions.

"At present, there are 10 professional racers who can drive systematically and over 300 foreigners and 700 local amateurs in the country. We will invite the racers from Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore for the 27th SEA Games," Top Ruby Land Co was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, Myanmar will host five-country friendship car rally including Lao, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand and Singapore in Yangon this month.

Myanmar has been held the car racing in Yangon since 2009.

In November 2010, Myanmar won Congeniality Award in ASEAN Family Rally 2010 in Thailand, sponsored by the Thai Ministry of Tourism and Sports.
