An official at Indonesia's Youth and Sports Ministry said on Friday that process to qualify 50 athletes to vie in 2012 London Olympic is underway at the moment, a local media reported.

"We are currently preparing for the Olympics. We have two targets: the first is to have 50 athletes qualified, the second is to improve the performance of our athletes," the ministry secretary Djoko Pekik said, as quoted by tribunnews.com.

He said that a number of athletes from the sports of badminton, archery and swimming had already qualified for the London Olympic.

"Around 20 athletes have been qualified," he said.

He added that athletes from rowing, fencing, boxing and beach volleyball sports are now taking efforts to qualify themselves for the Olympic.

"We hope that the target of 50 athletes can be reached so that we can send them to London by July," he said.
