The 32nd World Bandy Championship kicked off in Kazakh city of Almaty on Sunday, with Sweden beating Finland by a 12-0 punch.
In the first half game, the Swedes led a 6-0 by its powerful short passes. The team continued staying on the offense in the second half and finished the game by a score of 12-0.
Jonas Edling, No. 18 of the Swedish team, scored 3 goals and became the top scorer of Sunday's game.
Franco Bergman, head coach of the Swedish team, told reporters that the match was not win for his team.
"We can't say that it was an easy game. We consider Finland as a very strong team. But today we are better prepared," Bergman said.
According to the game's organizing committee, the Championship will last until Feb. 5, in which about 14 national teams from all over the world will compete each other.
The first World Bandy Championship was held in Finland in 1957, when the Russian national team won the championship.
