Vietnam is bidding to host the Asian Games in 2019, a top official of the the Vietnam Olympic Committee said here on Friday.

Hoang Vinh Giang, general secretary of the Vietnam Olympic Committee, said that Vietnam has submitted a 6,000 billion Vietnamese dong (300 million U.S. dollars) budget for the event.

The Olympic Council of Asia will vote on the venue at its general assembly in November.

Vietnam has successfully played host to several international sport events including the 22nd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in 2003 and the 3rd Asian Indoor Games in 2009.
