The world No. 3 Wang Shixian of China defeated Japanese Minatsu Mitaniher 21-18, 21-10 to advance into the quarterfinals at the Asian Badminton Championships on Thursday.
Once trailing by four points, Wang managed to level 17-17 and went on to win the first set.
The 22-year-old Chinese led all the way to clinch the second set in just 15 minutes.
"The wind was against me in the first set," Wang said after the match. "I felt much better after changing courts."
Three out of the four top Chinese shuttlers will qualify for London Olympics. Asked whether she had the confidence to win an Olympic ticket, Wang said: "Everyone has a 25 percent chance, and what I need to do is to try my best in every match."
