The world No. 1 shuttler Wang Yihan of China defeated her teammate Wang Shixian 2-0 to advance into the finals of the Asian Badminton Championships in Qingdao on Saturday.
Yihan and Shixian were evenly matched in the first set and they were 19-19 in the last minutes. With two sharp smashes, Yihan beat her rival 21-19.
The second set was lopsided as the 22-year-old Shixian lost 21-12.
"If I had made less mistakes, I might have had the chance to win," said Shixian, ranked third in the world.
"I found my weaknesses from this match and I will try to overcome them in the upcoming training," she added.
"Neither of us did well today," said Yihan. "I won only because Shixian made more mistakes."
Yihan will take on teammate Li Xuerui at the finals on Sunday.
