A plan to move the headquarters of the Chinese Football Association in Beijing because the address is unlucky has brought more criticism to the scandal-plagued organization, Changjiang Daily reported yesterday.
CFA chief Wei Di and other several senior officials favor the move because their office is on Xizhaosi Street, which means "the sun goes down" in Chinese, the newspaper reported.
They said that gives the building bad fengshui, which is a type of Chinese system of geomancy the divines meanings from location and patterns.
The plan is to move the headquarters to a suburban area of Beijing, which has led to accusations that the government-backed association is wasting public money.
The officials could not be reached for comment, the newspaper said.
Football clubs overseen by the association haven't seemed to have good luck either on the field or off.
Referees, star players, senior officials and renowned coaches have been arrested in a campaign against soccer corruption and match-fixing.
