London reveals 2012 Olympic torch relay route

A detailed plan for the London 2012 Olympic torch relay has been officially released, including the exact route and names of 7-thousand-300 torch-bearers.

Selection of relay runners including the youngest and the oldest London 2012 Olympic torch relay runners Dominic John MacGowan, centre, aged 11, and Dinah Gould, second left, aged 99, (she will be 100 on May 23). 



Most of the torch-bearers are members of the public chosen for embodying community spirit, courage and sporting determination. The youngest will be just 12 while the oldest will be 100 when the relay takes place. A further 700 runners will be made up of athletes and celebrities - bringing the grand total to 8-thousand.

The torch relay begins at Land's End - the westernmost tip of England - on May 19th. Torch-bearers will carry the flame across Britain with a stop in Dublin, Ireland. London's Olympic Games will be held from July 27 to August 12.
