Former Houston Rockets players Tracy McGrady and Von Wafer met in the 28th round of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league Sunday, and the latter helped Xinjiang beat the hosts 122-115.

The face to face fight between McGrady and Von Wafer was rarely seen during the game.

"McGrady plays No. 4 position in Qingdao and Von Wafer is in No. 2 or No. 3 positions in Xinjiang, so they had few chances to meet in the court," said Cui Wanjun, coach of Xinjiang.

"Qingdao was a bye in the last round, so our players didn't show good form in the first half," said Zhang Shizhang, coach of Qingdao.

"We had had a meeting before the game to solve the problem, and it seemed we didn't do well," Zhang said.

Zhao Yonggang from Qingdao got the game-high 28 points and hit five three pointers out of 11. McGrady notched 22 points and Von Wafer snatched the team-high 25 points.

Li Tao buried three three-pointers for Qingdao in the first quarter, but Von Wafer led Xinjiang to edge the home team by three points.

Without McGrady and making too many fouls, Qingdao fell nine points behind in the first six minutes of the second quarter. Veteran Mengke Bateer, who had played for Denver Nuggets in NBA, helped Xinjiang to establish a 12-point lead in the first half.

Xinjiang wided the gap with a six-point win of the thrird quarter.

With three three-pointers from Zhao Yonggang, Qingdao managed to narrow the gap to four points with 90 seconds remained. Scoring six points in the key time, Von Wafer helped Xinjiang to sea; the victory.
