Lotus' Kimi Raikkonen won first race of F1 season. |
Former world champion Kimi Raikkonen of Finland claimed the season-opening title for team Lotus at the Australian Formula One Grand Prix on Sunday.
Starting from the seventh place, the 33-year-old Raikkonen finished the 58-lap race first, 12.4 seconds ahead of Ferrari's Fernando Alonso, thanks to a bold two-stop strategy.
Reigning world champion and pole sitter Sebastian Vettel finished third for Red Bull.
The second race on the F1 circuit will be at Sepang in Malaysia next weekend.
