China was out of contention of men's singles title as Du Pengyu was beaten by Indonesian non-seeded player Dyonisius hayom Rumbaka in a quarterfinals match in Indonesia Open on Friday.

Du Pengyu, the third-seeded player, was the only Chinese men's singles player qualified in quarterfinals. He lost the match in three games that lasted almost one hour with a score of 21-15, 15-21 and 21-19.

"I have demonstrated my best performance in the match, but he (Hayom Rumbaka) apparently played even better. His smash and backhand shots were excellent," Du Pengyu told reporters on the sidelines of the match.

"Win or lose is common in a match. My opponent was playing better than I did," Du Pengyu said.

In the semifinals, Hayom Rumbaka will play the winner of another quarterfinal match between top seed Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia and Bonsak Poonsana of Thailand.

In a women singles quarterfinal match played earlier Friday, Hong Kong player Yip Pui Yin stopped Indonesian Belaetrix Manuputy 16-21, 23-21 and 22-20.

In semifinals Pui Yin would take on the winner of another quarterfinal match between China' s Li Xuerui and Bae Yeon Ju of South Korea.
