China looks poised to increase its gold medal haul at the World Swimming Championships after 2007 champion Qin Kai and two-time reigning champion He Chong led yesterday's semifinal in the men's 3-meter springboard.

Qin and He paired up to run away with the men's 3-meter synchronized springboard title on Tuesday, and the duo appears set to duel for the individual gold after Olympic champion Ilia Zakharov of Russia failed to advance to today's final of 12.

Qin led the semifinal with 493.65 points through six dives, while He ended up with a total of 483.15.

China's Chen Ruolin can also win her second gold in four days in the women's 10-meter platform final.

China has won five gold medals in the six diving events so far at these world championships.
