Bayern Munich are planning to step up their interest in Chelsea's David Luiz and are prepared to pay more than £40million, reported Daily Mail.
The European champions insisted early this month that they had no interest in the 26-year-old who has been a long-term target of Barcelona.
But it is believed that Bayern's new coach Pep Guardiola is now asking for a move for the Brazilian and contact was made over the weekend.
Chelsea have also denied that they have any plans to sell Luiz, maintaining the Brazilian, who signed a new five-year contract last September, is not for sale.
Luiz returned to training on Sunday after having missed Chelsea's tour to the Far East because of his participation in the Confederations Cup. He signed for Chelsea in January 2011 from Benfica.
Chelsea are also reportedly interested in Brazilian defensive midfielder Luiz Gustavo, who plays for Bayern.
