Chinese Taipei overcame a 10-point deficit in the third quarter to defeat Jordan, 91-87, on Thursday in their opening match in the 2013 FIBA-Asia Men's Championships at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Lin Chih-Chieh finished with 27 points including baskets in a pivotal 14-3 run in the fourth period as Chinese Taipei started off their campaign in Group A of the Asian championships that includes the Philippines and Saudi Arabia.

Chinese Taipei trailed 57-67, but capped off the third quarter with eight straight points to cut the deficit to two points, 65-67.

Chinese Taipei took the lead for good in the fourth with Lin hitting two free throws, 88-79, with 34.8 seconds left before surviving a fightback by Jordan late in the game.

"I think Jordan is a good team. We were lucky that we won by four points," said Chinese Taipei coach Hsu Chin-Che. "In the second half, we were nervous that is why we trailed by 10 points."
