Zhao Jing of China jubilates after winning the women's 50m Backstroke Final at the 15th FINA Swimming World Championships at Palau Sant Jordi arena in Barcelona, Spain, on August 1, 2013.

World-record holder Zhao Jing led China to gold and silver double in the women's 50m backstroke final at the 2013 FINA World Championships on Thursday with compatriot Fu Yuanhui finishing second.

The 22-year-old Zhao, who won 100m backstroke gold at the 2011 world championships, claimed the gold in 27.29 and winning the duel with her teammate Yuanhui Fu, silver medallist in 27.39.

Fu was the best performer of the season, with a 27.22 effort established in April in Zhengzhou. It was the first medal at Worlds for the 17-year-old Chinese swimmer. Zhao has now five awards in FINA's major showcase.

"I feel very happy to have proved myself and taken the gold medal," Zhao said.

"After the Olympics I had some injury problems and my performance dipped so that is why I think I have proved myself again.

"It has been down to my hard work and dedication."

The bronze medal went to Japan's Aya Terakawa in 27.53.
