Chinese Super League powerhouse Guangzhou Evergrande has reached an agreement with Russian side Spartak Moscow on a 7 million euro (US$9.34 million) deal for its Paraguayan striker Lucas Ramon Barrios.
Evergrande had filed a complaint with FIFA, accusing Barrios of violating his contract when he flew home for a match against Chile early in June. He did not return until July and tried to contact other clubs in order to force a transfer.
The former Dortmund player, who signed a four-year deal with Evergrande in June 2012 for a record-breaking transfer fee of 8.5 million euros, accused the defending CSL champion of delaying his dues. "Barrios' agent contacted the club immediately after FIFA sent a notification to the player, the transfer process was smooth and we are satisfied with the price," an Evergrande source told Xinhua news agency.
