As of Jan. 31, 2011, 29-year-old Li Na is ranked the No. 7 tennis player in the world according to the WTA singles rankings, becoming the highest ranked female Chinese tennis player. [xinhua.net]

Li Na is seeded No.5 at the upcoming US Open.

The 2013 US Open Women's Singles draw was revealed on Thursday with No. 1 Serena Williams, the defending champion, and No. 2 Victoria Azarenka are still primed to clash in the final for the second year in a row.

The draw has seen a few major shakeups of late, with the unexpected retirement of 2013 Wimbledon champion and world No. 7 Marion Bartoli and Wednesday night's withdrawal of No. 3 Maria Sharapova due to a shoulder injury.

China's Li Na, who moved up a spot due to Sharapova's withdrawal, is drawn into the same quarter with a number of dangerous hard-court players, notably No.3 seed Agnieszka Radwanska, who edged out Li at Wimbledon, and No. 16 Sabine Lisicki, who reached the Wimbledon final.

The 5th seed's opening match will be against Olga Govortsova of Belarus.
